Hello my friends!

Late 18th Century Dentures
I am asking for your help in finding out everything about blood teeth pre-20th Century! I’m not actually after your actual blood or teeth, rather I’m beginning the next phase of my research by focusing upon the transplantation of teeth. I’m rather interested in anything you might come across prior to, say, the 20th Century, that might relate to blood transfusion and/ or teeth.
If you come across anything, please let me know. Over the coming weeks, I’ll hopefully be writing a few titbits on teeth and teeth-related things (I might leave blood for another time but will still be collecting things). I’ll post them here for your incurably curious minds (to rip off the Wellcome Collection’s slogan!)
Any directions would be very much appreciated! I’m off to the dentistry museum and to meetings with librarians tomorrow, too!
Thank you!!!
I’m sure you’ve thought of this already but there are great blood transfusion scenes in Bram Stoker’s Dracula of course. This is too obvious I’m sure but I wanted to make sure that literary representations weren’t left out!
Thanks Sharon! Indeed Dracula is key. Your mentioning of it at this moment, though, has just made me think of the other relation between teeth and blood that I didn’t think about: the cultural one in Vampirism. Not sure how much I would want to delve into that but it make sense to have a look!
Have you read: Romantic medicine and John Keats by Hermione De Almeida ? I’m sure Sharon can suggest some more texts on Keats and medicine, but I’ve come across it on Google books and it has some chapters on Hunter, blood transfusions and vitality you could take a look at. Just had a flash of thought! Thackray Museum in Leeds have a section on teeth and beautiful little collection of dentures.
